چکیده

Other SectionsAbstractRice is an important food crop that feeds most of the world's population. However, due to increased frequency pest outbreaks, it necessary cultivate complex pest-resistant rice cultivars. A mutant population was derived by culturing tissue ‘Hwayeong’ at Plant Molecular Breeding laboratory Kyungpook National University in Republic Korea. The cultivar ‘Drimi4ho’, a line resistant disease, finally selected backcrossing with ‘Junam’. heading date ‘Drimi4ho’ August 11 (107 days after sowing). Drimi4ho’ has culm length 69 cm, panicle 21 16 panicles per hill, 115 spikelets panicle, ratio ripened grain 92.7%, and 1,000-grain weight 24.3 g. No lodging occurred when grown field standard fertilization. It also leaf/neck blast bacterial blight (K1, K2, K3), dwarf virus, black-streaked stripe BPH, SBPH. round short-type grain, very clear transparent without chalkiness. In addition, excellent physicochemical properties make up food, so its taste good. When planted under ordinary conditions southern mountainous area Korea, yield 5.53 MT/ha (Registration No. 6124).Keywords : rice, Drimi4ho, culture, multi-resistant, quality

Blast in a Durably Resistant Rice Cultivar

Moroberekan, ajaponica rice cultivar with durable resistance to blast disease in Asia, was crossed to the highly susceptible indica cultivar, C039, and 281 F, recombinant inbred (RI) lines were produced by single seed descent. The population was evaluated for blast resistance in the greenhouse and the field, and was analyzed with 127 restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) markers. Two ...

Development and evaluation of rice giant embryo mutants for high oil content originated from a high-yielding cultivar ‘Mizuhochikara’

Rice bran oil is a byproduct of the milling of rice (Oryza sativa L.). It offers various health benefits and has a beneficial fatty acid composition. To increase the amount of rice bran as a sink for triacylglycerol (TAG), we developed and characterized new breeding materials with giant embryos. To induce mutants, we treated fertilized egg cells of the high-yielding cultivar 'Mizuhochikara' wit...

Breeding of new rice cultivar ‘Tohoku 194’ with ‘Sasanishiki’-type good eating quality of cooked rice

Cooked rice of 'Sasanishiki' is soft and not as sticky as those of Japanese leading cultivars 'Koshihikari' and 'Hitomebore'. As a method for efficient selection of a breeding line having a good eating quality like that of 'Sasanishiki', the use of physical properties of cooked rice and cooking quality was examined. There were differences of physical properties of the surface layer, starch-iodi...

R Making Rice Disease-resistant

food. Almost two billion people—one third of the world’s population—depend primarily on rice for basic nourishment. Rice fields cover more than 360 million acres of land around the globe and yield 560 million tons of grain every year. But farmers plant much more rice than they harvest, because insects, bacteria, viruses and fungi often claim a substantial portion of each crop. One of the most d...
